Cambridge Dial a Ride gets ready to resume operations

Volunteers and Trustees of Cambridge Dial a Ride have been preparing their fleet of buses to be ready to transport members again as Cambridge comes out of the lockdown restrictions. Buses have been serviced and cleaned with anti-viral solutions and taken for a good run on the quiet roads around Cambridge to fully charge up their batteries, after the lockdown of the past 9 weeks.

Chairman of the Trustees, Bill Hughes said “We have sent out letters to all of our members throughout the Cambridge area to let them know that when it is safe to do so, we are ready to transport them again. Our drivers and volunteers will be using PPE and ensuring our passengers are safe. We will have to reduce dramatically the number of people that we can carry on each bus, for social distancing, but we have been working through how that will work.”

Office manager, Johan Williams said “We are in touch with all of the day centres and community venues to find out when they plan to resume their activities, so that we can straight away take our members to their chosen venues. That will include shopping trips to local supermarkets, and in due course, taking our members for days out when hospitality services can start again.”
