Cambridge Dial-a-Ride Trustee becomes a qualified MiDAS Assessor
Cambridge Dial-a-Ride, a Not-for-Profit entity which provides an essential minibus service transporting people with mobility issues in the Cambridgeshire area.
All our minibus drivers either employed or volunteers attend a suitable CTA UK (Community Transport Association) certified course – MiDAS. MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers . This scheme is designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses, tail lifts and wheelchairs as well as passenger wellbeing whilst travelling with us. MiDAS is applicable to any organisation operating or using minibuses, ranging from small voluntary groups operating one vehicle, to local authorities operating large fleets of minibuses as well as schools and colleges.
To enable us to get all our minibus drivers onto the road as quickly as and smoothly as possible we are pleased to announce that we now have our very own qualified MiDAS Assessor, Simon Turner, who not only can train and certify our own drivers but can offer this to any organisation or driver at very competitive rates.
The courses includes:-
- Group discussion following a training related film
- Safe use of steps, ramps and tail lifts
- Wheelchair and passenger restraint equipment
- Department for Transport codes of practice on safe carriage of passengers in wheelchairs
- Good practice on passenger assistance and care
- Information on disability, carrying mobility equipment and professional etiquette
