Breaking News … Dial a Ride Service to restart from 3rd August 2020
Cambridge Dial a Ride, which provides an essential service transporting people with mobility issues, will re-commence its services from 3rd August.
Bill Hughes Chair of the Charity says “we have been operating for well over 22 years without a break but like everyone else our services were temporarily halted due to Covid 19 back in March. However, we are delighted to be able to announce that we are re-starting our operations from the beginning of August. We have carefully prepared a safe re-start of our services and look forward to welcoming back our many members”.
Johan Williams – Office manager, who is overseeing the re-opening commented “all our drivers will be retrained before they start under our new operating regime. We have implemented strict cleaning and protective routines for both our staff and passengers which includes use of PPE equipment for staff assisting our passengers as well as re-fitting buses with screens and seating arrangements to ensure the safety of everyone involved”.
Clearly this prolonged period of lockdown has been a real strain on our finances and we would like to record our special thanks to Cambridge City and County Councils for their continued support. We are also very grateful for any donations, large or small. If you would like to help, please visit our website www.cambridgedialaride.org.uk or contact our office on 01223 506335 to make a donation.
