Fancy being a Volunteer Minibus Driver? Then we need you!
Cambridge Dial-a-Ride, which provides an essential minibus service transporting people with mobility issues, urgently needs you!
As our much needed and loved services have gradually been coming back to normal following the pandemic restrictions, we now need to use all our minibuses again and therefore drivers, to transport our members between Monday and Friday each week. We have our amazing team of paid drivers but need volunteers to fulfil our busy schedules.
We recently had to say goodbye to Graham Redgrave, one of our long serving volunteers who retired from driving for us and is already sadly missed. Graham joined Cambridge Dial-a-Ride in 2014 where he has been a regular volunteer driver and firm favourite and friend to many of our passengers, co-volunteers, staff and Trustees and therefore we have opportunities for more volunteer drivers. Adds Graham, “I really enjoyed my time driving for this worthy cause and to witness how Dial a Ride’s service makes such a difference to people’s lives by enabling them to be more independent and less reliant on family and friends”.
Says Chairman Bill Hughes “The secret to Cambridge Dial-a-Ride’s longevity is down to its staff and volunteers who are passionate about the personal ‘door to door’ service it offers. We have many regulars who have been members for years and just couldn’t manage to be independent without the help of the Cambridge Dial-a-Ride Team”.
Shane Buffham our Operations Manager adds, “From health and day centre appointments, shopping trips and visits to family and friends, Cambridge Dial-a-Ride transports its members around Cambridge and surrounding villages. We have busy weekday schedules for our paid drivers and rely heavily upon our volunteers to maximise our minibus usage and ensure we can take all our members to their destinations”.
